DOUGEN — Kappabashi, Tokyo
English support and tax-free are shown only where we've confirmed them. Many Kappabashi shops do offer tax-free — ask at the register (passport required).
A shop for copper and iron. Copper pans, frying pans, tamagoyaki pans (rectangular omelette pans), graters, kettles and tumblers stand alongside Nanbu cast ironCast ironware from Iwate Prefecture, prized for holding heat evenly — kettles and skillets are the classics. It seasons with use, the way a cast-iron skillet does.— Kappabashi notes: pots, kama, the heavy pot rice was cooked in, teapots and frying pans.
The shop was founded in 1930. When it started, it worked copper and sold it, which is where the copper in its name comes from, and copper is still the part of the range it puts the most into.
