Tokyo Hakui has sold chef whites and uniforms since 1949: whites for the kitchen, office wear, workwear and uniforms by trade. It also carries samue, the two-piece Japanese work suit, and happi, the short coat worn at festivals.

The shop’s own site puts it simply enough: half a century on Kappabashi Kitchen Town in Asakusa.
